A fun memory

Okay so many many things come to mind right now. But I do not have the luxury of time to do a long post. (I am playing nurse-mommy to Elijah again today. More on that later.) And, I must keep it PG-13 since my mom (I love you mommy!) disturbingly, is one of the very very very very very very few avid readers of my blog. hehe.

Harry Potter is always fun. So let me talk about when I saw the final movie installment.
(Friends, so many claim that they are the world's biggest Harry Potter fan. I cannot claim that title. But do understand, I like it a whole lot. One of my life goals would be to actually meet J.K. Rowling shake her hand and I could die right there. Of course I exaggerate.)

So since we're parents and leaving home without the baby makes me feel guilty, we had one of those "speedy" dates to mark the occasion.

We were at Shangri-La, Ortigas the moment the guards opened the doors. First screening was at 12:30noon so we took a quick brunch. Let me tell you how it went through pictures. =)

That's me looking very mommy-ish. Blech. Haha.

Meet my very "simpatikong" date.

Tender Bob's interiors: very country.

This was hubby's I think. Rib-eye in medium rare.

This was mine. Rib-eye in medium.

I was "hyperventilating" (no kidding) before the movie started.
I was so nervous that the movie would suck and kill
all my dreams of grandeur. So hubby, kindly suggested
for me to smell the fresh air outside first.

This is hubby: being dorky.

Of course, it was my idea so
I had to get a dorky shot too. =)
And the movie Blew. My. Mind! It was awesome. It was definitely a great ending to the series. I don't care what everyone else think.

Well that's it for now. Tomorrow I will be talking about my hobbies.. I think.

What you like best about each member of your family

To Roanna, my friend who is doing this with me, let me tell you that I am cheating today’s entry.

I copied the same exact words we (JP and I) have written almost 4 years ago in our wedding announcer wedsite (see it here). All of the what’s written there are still true.

Bride's dad
Daddy Oca is very animated and is always the life of the party. He likes telling corny jokes that only Myka (Bride's youngest sister) frequently gets. There is never a dull moment when Daddy is around. He's a crooner at heart and is a natural entertainer.

Bride's mom
A very caring mom, it seems Mommy Mila has always been destined to be a mom. She always puts other people's need over her own. She's a workaholic, always energetic and she cooks laing so good other people just can't help clamoring for more!

Bride's younger sister
With all the things she's doing and achieving, it will amaze you that she only has one body. Cookie is the hyperactive, super lively sister of the bride. She's always bubbly and forever happy no matter what the weather  is or whatever environment she's currently in.

Bride's younger brother
Kuya Gian can be seen around the house always tinkering in front of the computer or armed with the pencil drawing a masterpiece. He's the artsy-quiet type but also fun to be around. He's got a lot of hidden talents that he can definitely be proud of.

Bride's youngest sister
Ate Myka is usually shy around other people. This is a complete contrast when she's just in the house hanging with her younger brother. She's the family's sweetheart. She's dreaming to be an architect someday.

Bride's youngest brother
Polo is the youngest and the star of the family. He basks in the attention the everyone is showering him. He's funny, sweet, and smart although he talks too much.=) He's very well rounded too (both literally and figuratively) and is definitely a cutie.

Groom's dad
Daddy Peter can make sense out of the very mundane things. He's a deep thinker, a good conversationalist and can give solution to any problems. A health buff, he can always give an advice or two to get you into shape.=)

Groom's mom
Mommy Gay is always looking happy and has a very positive outlook in life. This is the reason why she still looks very young for her age. When she tell stories it's always animated that you just can't help but listen. She has a very caring heart as well and take very good care of her  family.

Groom's eldest sister
The ever fashionista Ate Gengs is the cool and hip elder sister of the Groom. She always looks calm and collected no matter what the situation is. Her strong sense of style and quiet elegance (which the bride hopes to emulate someday) makes her stand out in the crowd.

Groom's eldest sister's husband
Kuya Jem has a very commanding presence and people just can't help but be drawn to him. Maybe because of his jolly attitude or his intresting stories or maybe because he just has a great personality.

Groom's nephew
Kuya Matt is the very cute and lovable groom's nephew. He is as smart as he looks. He is an all around guy, he's good at his studies, he's good at basketball and he basically excels in any game he sets his heart into. More importantly he is a very loving kuya to Tia.

Groom's niece
Definitely Tia has got a start potential. She can give any Viva Hotbabe or any showbiz personality a run for their money when she starts dancing. Blessed with a very cute angelic face and well behaved attitude, she is every parents' dream.

Groom's eldest brother
Kuya Pykes is a hardworking person who set off overseas in Dubai to reach his goals.  He's as hard at working as he is also at playing basketball, which he's very good at.  He exudes confidence and coolness which drew ladies to him in his younger years, but has given up all that to dote on his wife.=)

Groom's eldest brother's wife
Camille comes across as the hip and fashionista wife of the groom's brother. On the outside, she's perceived as smart, confident, and a loving wife to her husband but there is probably more to her than meets the eye. (Note: Ate Camille, sadly left us last December. And although she's seeing us now from heaven, her memories are always with us.)

Bride
Love is a symphony of concoctions that transform her to whatever the situation calls for. She can be the advice columnist to her friends where her views on love and life are well sought after. She can be the initially reluctant leader in the workplace who will be suprised later on that she carries the leadership mantle very well afterall. With the groom she can be sweet and loving and fiesty as well which keeps the groom on his toes. But underneath all these well balanced personalities and the Bianca Gonzalez resemblance is a simple homey, wife-material girl taking pleasures in watching TV, cuddling, and coming up with the best carbonara and adobo.=)

Groom
JP is quiet, always calm, nonchalant, rarely pulsed about anything, and  tries very much to veer away from any attention. What makes this tandem work is his patience and his ability to always put things into proper perspective. He is resourceful, smart, funny, very responsible, spontaneous and also a healthbuff (like his dad). He is the all around good guy that so many girls out there dream of having (lucky Bride). =)

Additional

Bride's Sister's boyfriend
Kuya Keithy, who is one of the patient and driven person one can come across with. His stories and easy laugh make him all the more endearing. He is very dedicated to to his dreams.

Newest edition: Baby boy Elijah
A very well-behaved and adorable baby who can always perk you up even at your most dour days. He always has a twinkle in his eye that tells you he is up for games anytime. Play peek-a-boo with him and he is sure to reward you with his signature laughs. He definitely the life of the party and everyone in the family is kind of obsessed with him. Hehe.

Click this link to view the original entries complete with our younger pictures hehe. See what I told yah? Everythings still ring true (except for the Bianca Gonzalez-part tee hee).

 A favorite food

Wow, this is indeed a challenge. It is getting harder as each day passes.

How can I talk about a favorite food, when food itself is a favorite? I'm sure that previous sentence did not make sense to you so ignore that. Okay, just something I have been addicted to lately.

Beef Pepper Rice by Pepper Lunch

Yowza! It's the perfect rice. Yummy beef. Just enough combination of sweet and salty. The honey brown sauce is love! It's a food that always leave me satisfied. So great, that when it opened in Megamall, me and JP ate there for three consecutive times!

We're going to Megamall again today to claim my free fone (more on that later) so there... :)

Your celebrity crush

I will keep this short. Frankly because I think the topic is corny (no offense to corns! hehe). And because I can't relate. I never had a crush on celebrities.

Yes. That is very weird of me. Thank you.

Now I have to remember when was the last time I swooned over someone in the movies. I like movie characters not necessarily the actors playing them.

Only one movie comes to mind so far.

Dear Thor, as in will really really faint if I saw you.
Chris Hemsworth in Thor costume, as in! =)

Oh and before I forget. Jacob! Ryan Gosling's character in Crazy Stupid Love.

I think these two look really good together.

(Wait I might just have the case of celebrity crush on Emma Stone’s character too. Hee hee.)

** I think all the boys in Twilight series are sissies. So. Sue. Me.**

Anywho, my opinion doesn't matter anyway so peace out. :P

The Things I Love

Hi All!! *wave wave*

It's the return of the 30 day blog challenge! I blogged about why I wanted to start the challenge here. And here I blogged about what it was about July that stopped me from blogging for quite sometime.

So we are back to regular programming. I'm doing this again because I have this weird compulsion to always finish what I started. Plus one of my workmate friends has started the challenge too and I want to do it with her. Read and be mesmerized by her wit here.

My blog is titled The Things I Love. And by some luck, I will be starting with Day 14 which wants me to list down the things I love. Tee hee.

If you have visited this site a few times over the past couple of weeks I am sure you would know I pretty much love almost anything. (Read: mababaw ang kaligayahan)

In the interest of time and space I shall name the first few things that pop into my head right now.

1) Staycations (Vacations that are spent inside the hotel getting some Zzzzzzzzzsss)
We did just that last Saturday. MIL (mudrabells-in-law) rented one of the top floors in one of the newer hotels in Tagaytay: Summit Ridge Hotel. Some pictures below.

A view of their lobby

Sayang ang view. It was foggy all afternoon and the day after.

Is the bathroom Chuva worthy? Me thinks not yet.

This was the view from the elevator.
That's the taal volcano there only it's blanketed by fog.

As all family vacations are never complete without a: Group Shot.

Here's Eli getting his green goo on (eating his veggies).

My MIL (the birthday girl), upon seeing her surprise
very heavy carrot birthday cake.

A very cute shot of Eli with his tito ninong Pykes.

2) Smell of paper
I am weird like that. Paper = books. I love books. Read why I love 'em here.

3) My engagement and wedding ring

4) Movies
I get lost in them. I become most of characters I watch for ~45minutes after seeing the movie (to my husband's amusement).

5) My breastpump (Ameda Purely Yours)
I owe a lot to this baby! Withstood the wear and tear of being lugged everyday to the office. Tee hee.

6) My canon camera
Canon Digital  Digital 980 IS. It made even un-techy person like me able to take decent photos.

7) My boys' laughter
Gets me thru anything. Hearing them laugh reminds me all the time that life is so good.

Eli: Mom, I'm sleepy already. Why dya' wake me up for?!
Mom: For photo-op baby and we have to sing
"Happy Birthday" to your dad.

Eli: It's dad's birthday! How exciting!

Happy birthday daddy!!!

Oh, and that's one more thing I love. Celebrations. I love having them! =)

The meaning behind your blog name

Note: I was supposed to post this last night but my laptop died on me. So I slept nalang. Hehe.

Today is my seventh entry in the 30 day blog challenge. Today is also Elijah's 7th month birthday.

Seven.

Seven always reminds me of Jaworksi. And 7-11 stores. And being lucky. Anyhoo. Back to my topic. Kekekeke.

The blog name "The Things I Love" is pretty much self explanatory. I have said that I always have opinion on everything. Not just so-so opionions. I always have strong opinions on anything. (Kahit ano pa yan: taho, movie, philosophical concepts, people I know, people I don't know, etc... Tagalog translation: epal. Haha!) I am an extrimist. I am a fan of polarities. No such thing as neutral or in-between for me. Either I love you or... I love to hate you. Hence, the name.

I think that applies to me as well. People always either hate my guts or love me for what I am. I am the most transparent person I know. I squeal with delight when I love you and I am happy for you. I make faces if I don't like you. And this is not because I want to be mean. I just don't have the power to hide my emotions. I am just so out there. I make huge gestures. I talk loudly. This is the reason why some people see me and there's an instant dislike. I don't blame them. And I don't really care. I have an awesome family. I have very close friends whom I treasure and because of them I am really contented na. I have no intentions of running naman for President so carry lang. :)

Now to another story. Eli's 7th. It is both funny and amazing how your little traits and quirks can creep their way into your child. At 7 months, I am beginning to see some of my and JP's characteristics kay Eli. Oh my! Kakaaliw. Haha. Trouble. :)

Some picture of our handa today. I am a sucker for celebrations talaga. I am corny and sentimental like that.

Tinamad na ko mag effort so I asked my mom to cook sotanghon with canton. Yummy.

Favorite movies

Hey! It is day 2 of the 30 day blog challenge. If you want to read why I am doing this nonsense you can read it here. Or skip this blog altogether if I annoy the hell out of you. :P

What a perky introduction! Okay so where was I?

This being day 2, I have to talk about my favorite movies.

….

….

*crickets chirping* (kruuhhh-khruuuhh)

So it’s not like I do not have favorite movies but it’s more of like, I like so many that this will be very boring na. If the hubby were to write this, he will say intellectual movies like “Schindler's List” or triumph of the human spirit stuff like “The Shawshank Redemption”, or geeky nerdy movies like “Star Wars” or.. or.. the sleep-fest “Saving Ryan’s Privates”… err “Saving Private Ryan” pala. Jejeje. (That is one tricky title. I always get those two words mixed up. :P)

I always say that the last movie I watched (as long as I got entertained) is my favorite.

Plus I am not the intellectual kind so it may look like hindi pinag isipan ang aking list. However, I’ve seen the movies below over and over again so I guess that’s why they became my top choices.

1) Plot of this movie highly improbable I know (ibaba ang eyebrows!). I like the idea that the guy (Adam Sandler) makes the girl fall in love with him everyday. I like the setting which is Hawaii. (I believe I was a Polynesian in my past life.) Because everything looks rosy and fresh. Because Drew’s character here and I share the same taste in flowers. I'll never get tired of watching this film ever. And because I watched this on the night before my wedding day to ensure I get a good night’s sleep.

50 First Dates

2)  I tell you to watch this and believe me when I say that the film is actually deeper than it seems. Despite the seemingly dark foreboding tone, in the end it made me feel hopeful.

Little Miss Sunshine

3)  After watching this movie for the first time, it has been my tradition to watch this during Christmas. I’ve watched the movie countless times already and I still laugh and cry.

Love Actually

4) One of the first movies I got obsessed with when I was a child. I keep imagining that I was the lead character and the things I would do. I told my mom, when I grow up I want to be Bill Murray. I was a weird kid. (What? You haven’t seen this? This is a classic noh? Watchit watchit watchit!!!!)

Groundhog Day

5) Finally, because I love the arts and I am deep. And because I understand and appreciate the Filipino culture in its truest sense.

My Filipino classic favorite is….

...

Oro Plata Mata

Choz lang.

...

Maynila Sa Kuko ng Liwanag

Char ulit…

Eto sure na:

Bituing Walang Nining! (English: A star without shine!)

I was a "Sharonian" when I was a kid. Period.

***

[Side kwento, we had to bring out little bunchkin’ to the ER of Medical City earlier this evening. His fever would not let up. While he was there high temperature and all, my little baby was still an entertainer. He would smile and laugh with anyone willing to play, smile and coo with him. We were discharged since negative ang urinalysis. Right now, his temperature is a little better na. I will try to hold off sleeping for as long as I can so I can just stare at his face and whisper in his ear that I love him every 21 seconds until he gets better.]

***

Till tomorrow!

A recent picture and 15 facts about you

Welcome to my first post in the 30 day blog challenge.

Since I gained a lot of weight lately, hate looking at pictures of myself. It’s not a self-esteem thing but I just don’t know how to describe it. Anyway, that picture was just taken last Sunday May 29, 2011 at a cousin’s birthday / family reunion. I was mowdelling a very yummy blueberry cheesecake which Lia, the birthday girl so lovingly prepared. The little baby is six month old Elijah. My son is sleeping because he got tired already from all the attention.

1)  I was supposed to be named "Leslie Jean" but my dad's telegram arrived a day late. (My dad was away on a work assignment.)

2) I always have strong opinions on everything. As in everything.

3) I love to cook and I love it when people loved what I cooked.

4) I love to hear other people's stories probably that is why I am so aliw reading blogs.

5) My favorite book is "The Catcher in the Rye" by J.D. Sallinger.

6) If money were not an issue, I'd want to do creative writing for a living.

7) I have very colorful and vivid dreams. (And I always tell them to my husband when I wake up. He always listens.)

8) I like making new friends. (who doesn't?)

9) I want to be a fashionista but fashion does not love me back.

10) I am a cry baby and I almost always cry each time I see someone else cry.

11) I love the rainy season more than the summer season. (Very ideal for reading a good book kase.)

12) I like the 'process' of finding gifts for my family and friends.

13) I trust and firmly believe in our God.

14) I married my first love.

15) I am a family girl and puts my family first.

Hey this is fun and a bit therapeutic! :) Till my next post. Tata!
