Drama at Cuts 4 Tots

Hi! *waving madly*

I am Elijah! I am a year old.

I am back once again. Hello there! You might remember me as my mama's very first guest blogger? I blogged about my love for balls and shooting here.

I want to tell you about the day I bawled my eyes out at Cuts 4 Tots. Normally, I am a very brave and behave boy. My mama is very proud that I do not cry a lot. This was my third hair cut already. During my first two encounter with the barber I was cool as a celery (or is it cucumber? or watermelon?). Or whatever veggie is applicable to descibe a very calm baby.

That's me. I was so cool, calm and collected. I don't know about this third visit. Maybe I wasn't in the mood. Maybe my mama woke me up at a bad time. Maybe it was because of the other kid. Maybe just maybe.

But I did it. I cried my heart out. Looking back, I don't know why I cried so much. I hope next time I am in a much better mood so I do not give kuya barber a hard time.

Let me show yah! Please try not to laugh. I am embarassed already as it is.

It started when daddy tried puting me on the chair that looks like a car.
Or is this a car that's actually a chair? I am not sure I am confused.

I asked (in my mind): "What's happening here?"

When I realized what was about to happen, I just had to get outa' there!

Please dad?! Get me outa' here!!!?!!

Really dad? Is this really happening?

But I am so adorable when my hair is long.
Please make it stay that way forever.

Awww! I hated it.

Even ate Conching knows my pain!

Please kuya barber have pity on me and stop snipping!

I cannot look!

Why are you guys doing this to me?!

Mama tried to calm me down using bubbles!

Dad gave me a noisy toy too.

It was interesting but only for a second.

Until I remembered someone is snipping my hair!

And then all of a sudden it was over.
Then, I couldn't remember why I was even crying in the first place!
Boy! I was in a weird mood that day. Tee hee.

We went to church after.
I was so tired that I slept through the entire service.

It was a nice experience even though I was crying a lot. My dad and mom said that they are proud of me still. =)

Till my next blog entry. In the mean time please continue showing your love for my mama's blog by visiting her blog everyday.

Please. Thank you. Till next time.

How was your weekend?

It all started with an hour long travel in the very traffic EDSA.

First was dinner at Sumo Sam. I had buttery salmon and fresh tasting tuna sushi. I didn't feel full yet so I ordered extra kani salad, which I only managed to finish a quarter of it (sorry Louie! libre mo pa naman to'.).

Then, of course we just had to have coffee. Originally we wanted to go to a tea place (just because this is uso these days). No success finding one, so we went to the most overrated hang-out place (as my husband calls it), Starbucks. There we decided to pass time arguing. Just like the old times. Oh there's a better word for it -- debate. Battle of the minds. So sexy. And nerdy! One of my friends happened to be a Grand champion toastmasters.

So we had to interpret lots of weird Swahilian proverbs. Sample: "When the crocodile jumps around he ends up by receiving the spear." Then it just became plain silly when I decided to form my own club to rival the toastmasters. Imma' calling it Wafflemasters (how original!). Parang lasing lang. We get our cheap fun out of babaw things like these.

Was supposed to follow to my officemates drinking session somewhere in the Fort, but I was not in the mood to brave EDSA anymore.

Saturday morning was spent playing with my son and bribing him to eat. There's a whole lot of mess involved whenever he eats but the fun of the process makes all the cleaning after worth it.

Then I went to Crossing's grocery to buy ingredients for chilli con carne. I spent lunch at my officemate's cool bachelor pad. His condo on the 18th floor is at the heart of Makati, literally in the middle of everything. How sushal!

We met at his pad, the girls cooked while the boys watched MTV Jackass while drinking beer. How stereotypical right? We ate roasted chicken, ginataang langka with dilis, cucumber salad, and my chilli dog. Desert was mangoes and Tanduay ice. Burp.

Then there was a team's basketball tournament championship to watch. They all went and watched. Hubby and I decided to walk a few blocks and meet up with my sister to show support on her current endeavor. I had an interesting conversation with a stranger while I waited for my sister.

We went back to the condo but the game was not yet finished so hubby and I decided to wait at 7-11, where I bought the overpriced Magnum. I took a few bites and vowed to walk a mile to burn the fat. #wishkolang

Then it was poker time back at the bachelor's pad. I discovered that I do have a poker face! It was fun. Beer, cards, Jackass, and laughter.

Then it was time to crash a Bachelor's party. We went to the-place-that-must-not-be-named. Got to see things I will never un-see anymore. Husband kept asking me during the entire "performance" on what my thoughts are. Girls are pretty and how do they address the attrition rate at places like those? Mundane things.

Morning once again came, and Eli had a playdate with one of my officemate's son. They had a whole chest of toys and they were fighting over a small green car. How cute. Boys. We served them freshly cooked pancit canton with sotanghon. Our first attempt to cook one and it was a success!

Then it was lunch with the in-laws. Inihaw na tilapia, binagoongang liempo, hot rice plus putong pula.

Afterwards, we heard Mass at the Shrine of the Divine Mercy. It was their feast day.

We then went to my parents home to play and eat kwek-kwek for merienda. Dinner came so we again ate. Stir fried tofu with vegetables, very spicy higado, crispy pata and hot rice.

We went home and watched Bb. Pilipinas.

Life's good.

What you like best about each member of your family

To Roanna, my friend who is doing this with me, let me tell you that I am cheating today’s entry.

I copied the same exact words we (JP and I) have written almost 4 years ago in our wedding announcer wedsite (see it here). All of the what’s written there are still true.

Bride's dad
Daddy Oca is very animated and is always the life of the party. He likes telling corny jokes that only Myka (Bride's youngest sister) frequently gets. There is never a dull moment when Daddy is around. He's a crooner at heart and is a natural entertainer.

Bride's mom
A very caring mom, it seems Mommy Mila has always been destined to be a mom. She always puts other people's need over her own. She's a workaholic, always energetic and she cooks laing so good other people just can't help clamoring for more!

Bride's younger sister
With all the things she's doing and achieving, it will amaze you that she only has one body. Cookie is the hyperactive, super lively sister of the bride. She's always bubbly and forever happy no matter what the weather  is or whatever environment she's currently in.

Bride's younger brother
Kuya Gian can be seen around the house always tinkering in front of the computer or armed with the pencil drawing a masterpiece. He's the artsy-quiet type but also fun to be around. He's got a lot of hidden talents that he can definitely be proud of.

Bride's youngest sister
Ate Myka is usually shy around other people. This is a complete contrast when she's just in the house hanging with her younger brother. She's the family's sweetheart. She's dreaming to be an architect someday.

Bride's youngest brother
Polo is the youngest and the star of the family. He basks in the attention the everyone is showering him. He's funny, sweet, and smart although he talks too much.=) He's very well rounded too (both literally and figuratively) and is definitely a cutie.

Groom's dad
Daddy Peter can make sense out of the very mundane things. He's a deep thinker, a good conversationalist and can give solution to any problems. A health buff, he can always give an advice or two to get you into shape.=)

Groom's mom
Mommy Gay is always looking happy and has a very positive outlook in life. This is the reason why she still looks very young for her age. When she tell stories it's always animated that you just can't help but listen. She has a very caring heart as well and take very good care of her  family.

Groom's eldest sister
The ever fashionista Ate Gengs is the cool and hip elder sister of the Groom. She always looks calm and collected no matter what the situation is. Her strong sense of style and quiet elegance (which the bride hopes to emulate someday) makes her stand out in the crowd.

Groom's eldest sister's husband
Kuya Jem has a very commanding presence and people just can't help but be drawn to him. Maybe because of his jolly attitude or his intresting stories or maybe because he just has a great personality.

Groom's nephew
Kuya Matt is the very cute and lovable groom's nephew. He is as smart as he looks. He is an all around guy, he's good at his studies, he's good at basketball and he basically excels in any game he sets his heart into. More importantly he is a very loving kuya to Tia.

Groom's niece
Definitely Tia has got a start potential. She can give any Viva Hotbabe or any showbiz personality a run for their money when she starts dancing. Blessed with a very cute angelic face and well behaved attitude, she is every parents' dream.

Groom's eldest brother
Kuya Pykes is a hardworking person who set off overseas in Dubai to reach his goals.  He's as hard at working as he is also at playing basketball, which he's very good at.  He exudes confidence and coolness which drew ladies to him in his younger years, but has given up all that to dote on his wife.=)

Groom's eldest brother's wife
Camille comes across as the hip and fashionista wife of the groom's brother. On the outside, she's perceived as smart, confident, and a loving wife to her husband but there is probably more to her than meets the eye. (Note: Ate Camille, sadly left us last December. And although she's seeing us now from heaven, her memories are always with us.)

Bride
Love is a symphony of concoctions that transform her to whatever the situation calls for. She can be the advice columnist to her friends where her views on love and life are well sought after. She can be the initially reluctant leader in the workplace who will be suprised later on that she carries the leadership mantle very well afterall. With the groom she can be sweet and loving and fiesty as well which keeps the groom on his toes. But underneath all these well balanced personalities and the Bianca Gonzalez resemblance is a simple homey, wife-material girl taking pleasures in watching TV, cuddling, and coming up with the best carbonara and adobo.=)

Groom
JP is quiet, always calm, nonchalant, rarely pulsed about anything, and  tries very much to veer away from any attention. What makes this tandem work is his patience and his ability to always put things into proper perspective. He is resourceful, smart, funny, very responsible, spontaneous and also a healthbuff (like his dad). He is the all around good guy that so many girls out there dream of having (lucky Bride). =)

Additional

Bride's Sister's boyfriend
Kuya Keithy, who is one of the patient and driven person one can come across with. His stories and easy laugh make him all the more endearing. He is very dedicated to to his dreams.

Newest edition: Baby boy Elijah
A very well-behaved and adorable baby who can always perk you up even at your most dour days. He always has a twinkle in his eye that tells you he is up for games anytime. Play peek-a-boo with him and he is sure to reward you with his signature laughs. He definitely the life of the party and everyone in the family is kind of obsessed with him. Hehe.

Click this link to view the original entries complete with our younger pictures hehe. See what I told yah? Everythings still ring true (except for the Bianca Gonzalez-part tee hee).

If the world were to end today

I was reading this blog earlier and I was touched by it. Allow me to use it as an inspiration as it truly echoes what I feel right now.

I don’t think I have ever been this happy in my life.

So what if the world was to end today?

I would say I would not do anything extraordinary.

The three of us wake up all at the same time (yes, like clockwork) around 8am. Sometimes Eli would wake up ahead of us, and he would just lie and wait patiently for us to wake up (sometimes by the time I open my eyes he’s already playing with his toys).

I would then lovingly prepare his food for the day. After we all have our breakfast, we go back to the bed and read. (Family of bookworms.)  The H with a book, Eli reading his favorite Clifford book or his Lamaze Discovery Farm soft book (thanks tita Gemma!), me with either a book or a magazine (YES, OK or Preview – my source of intelligent information haha!).

We do this for 30 minutes then Eli feeds and goes to sleep. When he wakes up after half an hour, he then takes his bath and we officially start our day.

Today, we are going to Megamall (our friendly reliable mall). I want to buy a new dress for next Saturday’s events (a wedding and a baptism in one day). The H might want to check out his favorite store again – ACE Hardware (IKR! How many drilling tools does he actually need?). Eli will stare at the faces of other babies.

Then, we are planning to go to S&R to buy some very important supplies (read: Hungarian sausages). I hope we can drop by St. Pio Church to pray and be thankful.

Then, we go home and the three of us will cuddle in the bed some more. In the last few seconds of my life I want to remember our simple life like this. When happiness is hearing my son’s laughter. Contentment is when my husband and I hold hands while watching DVD. I am not afraid of dying. But I do want my son to get to know his dad and me. True we are not celebrities but our combination can be a bit interesting and amusing. I want him to know his dad who is the most logical, intelligent and calm person I know. I want him to get to know me because I’m funny and silly and I laugh at my own corny jokes.

Most especially I want to see how Elijah turns out. As I pray everyday for God to plant awesome dreams in his heart I truly believe that he will grow up to be an endearing, smart and compassionate man someday.

So, I continue to hope that the world does not end because for my family (same is true for all those who are reading this) I am totally certain the best is yet to come.

Happy cuddling this weekend everyone!

Happiness is.

My apologies if I will sound morbid on a bright sunshiny Sunday morning. My goal is exactly the opposite. Earthquakes are everywhere. But the world is just too beautiful. I do not need to look too far because I know that I live in a beautiful community. I hear birds chirping every morning. Clear vivid smiling faces of cute little kids are ever present whenever I look outside our balcony. So the world cannot simply be falling apart.

Here's why I love living at our place.

Whenever it's bright and sunny we always take Eli for a stroll:

I get to meet the friendliest dogs any day:

Elijah likes looking at the clear blue waters and he believes that he can drink all of it:

Nice people going about their daily lives:

Simple things like these takes my breath away:

Thinking Elijah will grow up in this place make me happy:

I have the nicest neighbors too who also adores Elijah.

I will never trade this feeling for anything. Contentment. So please Lord, keep us safe and healthy. That is all I will ever ask.

Some senseless side story to distract you from the seriousness of this post.

H: Bee, may gwa-gwa!

Me: What's gwa-gwa? That's in Pampanga no?

H: Look it's a gwa-gwa! Yung sa horror story ni Kris!

Me: That's called bagwa! And no that is not a bagwa.

H: Don't pick it up. We might be exterminated isa-isa.

Me: See here look, I am touching it. And it is not a gwa-gwa nor a bagwa.

See for yourself.

Happy Sunday! :)
