Your current relationship

I was once convinced that it would just be him and me all the way. Early on, I accepted the fact that a kid might not be around. We were having a great deal of difficulty in conceiving. And do not judge me on my next statement... but during that time of uncertainty, I was okay with that fact. Just him and me. Bumming around in this life, just him and me.

(I love our child to the moon and back. I've realized now how much light one person can actually put into someone's life. Our child Elijah is one lucky miracle that we both get to experience. Everyday I am grateful. Everyday he becomes more and more adorable in my eyes.)

But back to my guy. We were never the hugsy, kissy type. You could leave us alone in an island and we'd be fine. We would never drive each other insane just because we've already known each other that long. We already had epic fights but nothing that lasted more than 4 hours. Several times, we both love becoming two strangers on a foreign land and pretend that we do not need anyone except for us.

I always tell my friends that love is supposed to be easy. It is not complicated. It is as normal and exciting as a sunrise. It is as effortless and extraordinary like a perfect Sunday morning. Love, is not difficult. (By easy meaning, the dynamics between the two of you is both easy and natural. Nothing has to be faked or done with an effort. Things around you can get a helluva’ complicated like problems and wars, aliens, spaceships – I can’t think of a more suitable complications please forgive me. But see, all of these are outside phenomenon. What remains simple and true is the two of you.)

I am taking little steps to become a better wife each day. Not because he wants to. But because he's giving me the boost that I need to keep on growing. Lastly, I am truly grateful that ours is a relationship filled with laughter.

Everyone’s love is a beautiful story. Believe me when I say that ours is not one for the books. It is ordinary. It is everyday. It will not launch a thousand ships. But I wouldn't have it any other way.

To hubby, thank you for the friendship, your warmth and for all the ordinary every day’s we've spent (they were the best days for me so far).

The Things I Love

Hi All!! *wave wave*

It's the return of the 30 day blog challenge! I blogged about why I wanted to start the challenge here. And here I blogged about what it was about July that stopped me from blogging for quite sometime.

So we are back to regular programming. I'm doing this again because I have this weird compulsion to always finish what I started. Plus one of my workmate friends has started the challenge too and I want to do it with her. Read and be mesmerized by her wit here.

My blog is titled The Things I Love. And by some luck, I will be starting with Day 14 which wants me to list down the things I love. Tee hee.

If you have visited this site a few times over the past couple of weeks I am sure you would know I pretty much love almost anything. (Read: mababaw ang kaligayahan)

In the interest of time and space I shall name the first few things that pop into my head right now.

1) Staycations (Vacations that are spent inside the hotel getting some Zzzzzzzzzsss)
We did just that last Saturday. MIL (mudrabells-in-law) rented one of the top floors in one of the newer hotels in Tagaytay: Summit Ridge Hotel. Some pictures below.

A view of their lobby

Sayang ang view. It was foggy all afternoon and the day after.

Is the bathroom Chuva worthy? Me thinks not yet.

This was the view from the elevator.
That's the taal volcano there only it's blanketed by fog.

As all family vacations are never complete without a: Group Shot.

Here's Eli getting his green goo on (eating his veggies).

My MIL (the birthday girl), upon seeing her surprise
very heavy carrot birthday cake.

A very cute shot of Eli with his tito ninong Pykes.

2) Smell of paper
I am weird like that. Paper = books. I love books. Read why I love 'em here.

3) My engagement and wedding ring

4) Movies
I get lost in them. I become most of characters I watch for ~45minutes after seeing the movie (to my husband's amusement).

5) My breastpump (Ameda Purely Yours)
I owe a lot to this baby! Withstood the wear and tear of being lugged everyday to the office. Tee hee.

6) My canon camera
Canon Digital  Digital 980 IS. It made even un-techy person like me able to take decent photos.

7) My boys' laughter
Gets me thru anything. Hearing them laugh reminds me all the time that life is so good.

Eli: Mom, I'm sleepy already. Why dya' wake me up for?!
Mom: For photo-op baby and we have to sing
"Happy Birthday" to your dad.

Eli: It's dad's birthday! How exciting!

Happy birthday daddy!!!

Oh, and that's one more thing I love. Celebrations. I love having them! =)

Note from me: Just because you do not need to read another emo-post I shall keep this fluffy-free.

Dearest JP,

I haven't gotten you a gift yet. Precisely because my gift would be “me” minus 30 lbs by December. :P I know I haven't gotten around to starting that yet. But just because it's your birthday and you are so very adorable I shall summon all the powers that be my willpower and finally do it. Diet. That is.

I hoped you enjoyed the “tex-mex” themed dinner party I hosted for your birthday (by tex-mex meaning: margarita plus nachos with ground beef and cheese hehe). I know it was simple. But getting you drunk was the best reward of all.

You are a great friend. And a husband. And a dad.

Please swallow your pride sometimes and ask for direction when we are lost.
I hope your dream to complete a marathon would come true with in the next twelve months.

And if people ask me why I love you I wouldn't know how to explain it. Except that Dory (of Pixar's: Finding Nemo), one of my most-est favorite characters of all time sums it best:

"I know it is, because when I look at you, I can feel it. And I look at you, and I'm home."

With you I am home. All the time. No matter where on earth we are.

Ain't that grand?

From your soon to be sexy wife,
Love

PS: Happy birthday. I know you are happy. You told me like bazillions of times already. =)

Crazy, Stupid, Love (Movie Rave-view)

I am trying to shy away from doing movie reviews because I get the sense that for one to do it, one must be well... intelligent. I’m pretty sure I do not officially deserve that title yet. But this movie, I so want all my friends to see.

It may be one of THE best romantic comedies I have seen. I will not get into the details because I am no expert but here are some of the things I love about the movie:

a) It points out it's own clichés (watch it and you'll understand) and the scenes are quite realistic
b) All the grandiose, sappy declaration of love (which ALL Star Cinema or Drew Barrymore movies have i.e. airport chases, declaring love in front of a crowd, musical scoring, etc...) are thwarted in this movie
c) Deeply painful and romantic moments are filled through silences, quiet moments and simple ordinary acts (a phone call, a private joke, long  simple personal conversations)
d) Ryan Gosling

I know I know I may have not convinced you yet but I really can't. I am not good at this. All I'm saying is watch it and you'll never regret it.

PS: Hubby, thanks for taking me on a movie date and for the Pepper Lunch dinner. I loved the movie. Loved the food. And I love the fact that the movie and food became extra fun because of your company.

The reason I am not blogging

For the benefit of my two loyal readers (my husband and sister), I have not been blogging because I have been sad and busy lately. I was not busy being sad nor was I sad because I was busy. On separate occasions I was either busy or sad.

Did you get?

Did you?

I hope so.

Sad. My husband has been under the weather for quite some time now. After a series of on and off fever, me fighting with various Medical City staff, dozens of negative medical tests, not two, not three, but four internists we still don't know why he's been.. sick lately. Now, no more fever but he has the worst coughs and cold which has now spread into the entire household (our baby, me and Conching), which kind of complicates things even more. I know things shall be better post-July. August is one of my favorite months because it’s hubby's birthday month. Get better my big baby okay?

(I have not been drinking coke for more than three weeks now. I am sacrificing coke so my husband gets better. The connection? Who knows? But a sacrifice is a sacrifice. I hope the universe gets my logic.)

Busy. Work. Play. Social activities. Harry Potter. The end of an era. Eli's 1st birthday preparation. Which I am promising will be free of any 1st birthday clichés. A tough feat to accomplish but I am promising our first born son a party so cool he'll want to do it again when he's 21 haha. I have to blog about so many things I hope I can eventually catch up.

I will be back with a vengeance mind you. I just thought of saying: "I missed you blog world and I hope you missed me as much as I missed you.”.

That’s it. OkiThanxBai!

XOXO.

If the world were to end today

I was reading this blog earlier and I was touched by it. Allow me to use it as an inspiration as it truly echoes what I feel right now.

I don’t think I have ever been this happy in my life.

So what if the world was to end today?

I would say I would not do anything extraordinary.

The three of us wake up all at the same time (yes, like clockwork) around 8am. Sometimes Eli would wake up ahead of us, and he would just lie and wait patiently for us to wake up (sometimes by the time I open my eyes he’s already playing with his toys).

I would then lovingly prepare his food for the day. After we all have our breakfast, we go back to the bed and read. (Family of bookworms.)  The H with a book, Eli reading his favorite Clifford book or his Lamaze Discovery Farm soft book (thanks tita Gemma!), me with either a book or a magazine (YES, OK or Preview – my source of intelligent information haha!).

We do this for 30 minutes then Eli feeds and goes to sleep. When he wakes up after half an hour, he then takes his bath and we officially start our day.

Today, we are going to Megamall (our friendly reliable mall). I want to buy a new dress for next Saturday’s events (a wedding and a baptism in one day). The H might want to check out his favorite store again – ACE Hardware (IKR! How many drilling tools does he actually need?). Eli will stare at the faces of other babies.

Then, we are planning to go to S&R to buy some very important supplies (read: Hungarian sausages). I hope we can drop by St. Pio Church to pray and be thankful.

Then, we go home and the three of us will cuddle in the bed some more. In the last few seconds of my life I want to remember our simple life like this. When happiness is hearing my son’s laughter. Contentment is when my husband and I hold hands while watching DVD. I am not afraid of dying. But I do want my son to get to know his dad and me. True we are not celebrities but our combination can be a bit interesting and amusing. I want him to know his dad who is the most logical, intelligent and calm person I know. I want him to get to know me because I’m funny and silly and I laugh at my own corny jokes.

Most especially I want to see how Elijah turns out. As I pray everyday for God to plant awesome dreams in his heart I truly believe that he will grow up to be an endearing, smart and compassionate man someday.

So, I continue to hope that the world does not end because for my family (same is true for all those who are reading this) I am totally certain the best is yet to come.

Happy cuddling this weekend everyone!

I Miss Being Your Girlfriend

I really do. I was in the smelliest cab in the world on my way to work. And I was like, have we become those old married couples? We used to laugh like hyenas over senseless US TV sitcoms, have earthshaking conversations with the light dimmed low, hug and cuddle and be silly while dreaming of dreams and marveling at our greatness. I have asked him this and his reply was, yea because we became parents.

I used to be his best friend. Like our world revolved and evolved around each other. Don’t get me wrong I am not complaining. Being called a ‘mom’ is possibly the best thing that has ever happened to me. More than any accomplishments I’ve done so far. Safely bringing our genius baby into this world makes all my other achievements pale in comparison.

But for some reason, I do miss our ‘Wednesdates’. Underneath the new hats I have to wear, this is still me. I am still funny. I am still sexy as hell. And I can still rock your world if only we can make time. So why not make time? Hope to spend an alone date with you my baby daddy. You’re the cutest thing that existed before Eli was born. I would love to be your girlfriend once again even if it’s only a day or two each month. Let’s date okay, JP? I love you to bits (although sometimes you make me want to scratch your eyeballs out kasi you can be antipatiko and hypercritical pero sige na I give that to you, you make up for it naman somehow).
